MAC AWARD WINNER ROCK ALBERS RETURNS TO ROSE'S TURN WITH HIT SHOW

The eccentric comedian, 2002 MAC Award-winning Rock Albers, is giving eight encore performances of "THE ROCK ALBERS SHOW: AN EVENING OF COMEDY AND SONGS" at UPSTAIRS AT ROSE'S TURN (55 Grove Street, NYC - 212-366-5438) on Saturdays in September and October. The shows are at 9:00 pm on September 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th and October 5th, 12th and 19th, with the final show will be at 7:00 pm on October 26th. Reservations for the show can be made through SmartTix at 212-206-1515 or http://www.smarttix.com/. There is a $10 cover for the show, and there is a 2-drink minimum.

The show's musical director is Dick Gallagher, who composed the music for the hit Off-Broadway show, "When Pigs Fly," which played in New York for two years. As a musical director, Gallagher has worked with singers including Patti LuPone and has received seven MAC Awards for musical direction.

The show is directed by award winning director and writer Stephen Rosenfield who has directed at The Roundabout Theatre, The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Actor's Studio and is the Director of the American Comedy Institute and the Stand-up Comedy Experience.

Mr. Albers received a MAC Award as the Best Male Stand-up Comedian at Town Hall in New York in the spring. The MAC Awards, sponsored by the Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs, are presented annually to honor achievements in live entertainment. Earlier this year Cabaret Hotline Online (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/) named Albers as the Best Male Stand-up Comedian in New York.

Albers' rabbit ears, which he wears during his performances, provide an amusing contrast to the Brooks Brother suit he wears during his act. In his act, Albers rants about subjects that most stand-up comedians don't talk about such as State Birds, I Love Lucy, English chocolate and national flags as well as makes his case to save the "Bunny Hop" from oblivion He also sings parody songs about American icons Donald Trump ("he's creepy and he's cheesy"), Janet Reno ("my own drag queen-o") and Martha Stewart ("Queen of the Universe").

Albers is performing in all of the major New York comedy clubs including PS NBC, Carolines, Stand-up New York, Gotham, Comic Strip, Comedy Cellar and Boston Comedy. He was recently a guest on National Public Radio's "The Next Big Thing" and Manhattan Neighbor Network's "Jamie de Roy & Friends," and he has also been seen on New York 1 News as well as MTV.
