FORMER DALLAS COMIC TO PERFORM AT DALLAS THEATER CENTER

Former Dallas funnyman Paul J. Williams will be returning to Big D to perform his new show, DISHING IT OUT, at FRANKÍS PLACE in the Kalita Humphreys Theater of the Dallas Theater Center (3636 Turtle Creek Boulevard, Dallas, TX) for three performances only on Friday & Saturday, August 3rd & 4th at 7:00 pm, and Sunday, August 5th at 2:00 pm. Having relocated to New York City four years ago to pursue a career in comedy and acting, this is Paul's third solo appearance in Dallas since his move. He presented a sold-out workshop performance of DISHING IT OUT at The Pocket Sandwich Theater in March 2001. In 1999, PaulÍs show LEFT, OUT, ... AND NOT RIGHT! also sold-out its engagement at the Pocket. His previous shows, THE BEST LITTLE HOMO IN TEXAS and JUST AS I AM: CONFESSIONS OF A CREATIVE CHILD, were performed to cheering crowds in Dallas from 1994 to 1996. Prior to that, many Dallas audiences will remember Paul as one-third of the comedy trio, LESS MISERABLE, which performed all across the U.S. from 1988 to 1994.

Paul J. Williams has long been known not only for his great comedic timing, but also his ability to create recognizable characters as a part of his show. In keeping with that tradition, his new show, DISHING IT OUT, is completely character driven, with Paul playing numerous personas throughout the entire show. Taking place in a Southern cafeteria, the central character is a food server who seems to know everybody who comes through her line. Inevitably, each of these people become the other characters in the show, as we get a glimpse into the daily goings on of the lunchtime patrons of this Southern gathering place. From a chain smoking real estate agent to a narrow-minded preacher (and others in between), DISHING IT OUT is a one-man tour de force capitalizing on PaulÍs hilarious creativity and improv abilities, as the audience becomes patrons in the cafeteria as well, interacting with the characters on stage. Whether dishing out chicken fried steak, juicy gossip, or words of wit and wisdom, DISHING IT OUT has a hearty appetite for fun and laughter.

Paul has made great strides since his 1997 move to New York, having performed at numerous comedy clubs and cabarets in Manhattan. He had two very successful runs of his last show, LEFT, OUT, ... AND NOT RIGHT!, at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/), and was nominated for a MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs) Award as Outstanding Male Comic in both 2000 and 2001.
