TONY AWARD WINNING BROADWAY STAR LILLIAS WHITE BRINGS HER NEW SHOW, "WHITE HOT AND EXCLUSIVE," TO JOE'S PUB JULY 19th, 20th, AND 21st - TICKETS ARE $30

The Joseph Papp Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival, George C. Wolfe, Producer, Fran Reiter, Executive Director, announces that Tony Award-winning Broadway star Lillias White will perform her annual birthday celebration engagement at JOE'S PUB (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - Tele-Charge: 212-239-6200 - Box Office: 212-539-8778 - http://www.joespub.com/) on July 19th, 20th, and 21st. All shows begin at 8:30 pm. Ticket prices are $30 and can be purchased at the Public Theater box office or via Tele-Charge.

These Joe's Pub performances -- under the title "White Hot and Exclusive"" -- serve as Ms. White's 2001 exclusive club appearance Æ her only solo performance in New York City this year. The engagement is also Ms. White's annual July Birthday celebration, celebrating all July birthdays, including Ms. White's.

Lillias White is the quadruple-crown winner of the 1997 Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, and the People's Choice Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance as Sonja in THE LIFE. Ms. White received unqualified acclaim for her portrayal of Jonesy in the recent revival of HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS..., and has also appeared on Broadway in CATS (as Grizzabella), ONCE ON THIS ISLAND (Asaka), DREAMGIRLS (Effie), ROCK 'N' ROLL THE FIRST 5000 YEARS (Aretha Franklin) and BARNUM (Joice Heth).

Off-Broadway she starred in DINAH WAS (Dinah Washington), WAITING FOR GODOT, THE PRINCESS & THE BLACK-EYED PEA, ANTIGONE AFRICANUS and ROMANCE IN HARD TIMES (at The Public Theater), for which she won an Obie Award. Her national and international tours include AIN'T MISBEHAVIN', THE WIZ, TINTYPES and DREAMGIRLS (Dramalogue Award). She won an Emmy Award for her work on "Sesame Street" after which she made several guest appearances on "Law & Order" and "NYPD Blue." She has appeared in concert at The Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center as well as a guest soloist on the PBS Special "In Performance at The White House." She is a featured voice in the Disney animated film "Hercules."
