JOAN RIVERS RETURNS TO THE DUPLEX TO TRY OUT NEW MATERIAL

Appearing August 7th, 8th,15th and 21st to benefit GOD'S LOVE WE DELIVER and GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND.

Joan Rivers is one of the hardest working women in the business ... comedienne, author, actress, playwright, screen writer, motion picture director, nightclub headliner, Emmy Award winning television talk show hostess, business woman and, most importantly, mother to Melissa. In 1997, Joan added radio talk-show host to her list of accomplishments with the launch of "THE JOAN RIVERS SHOW," two hours of talk radio, that airs weeknights from 7:00 until 9:00 pm on WOR in New York City and is nationally syndicated in over 40 markets. For her efforts, she was named Best Talk Show Host at the New York Metro Achievement in Radio Awards.

In addition, Rivers has had unprecedented success with the record-breaking 160 million dollars in sales of her Joan Rivers Classics Collection of jewelry, which bowed on Cable TV's QVC shopping network in 1990. She is also host of E! Entertainment Television's "Fashion Reviews" and, along with her daughter Melissa, hosts E!'s live pre-show commentary for the Academy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Emmy Awards telecasts.

And, as if Rivers did not already have enough on her plate, August of 1999 marked the launch of McCALL'S magazine's advice column, coauthored by Joan and her daughter Melissa. The column appears regularly and addresses reader's questions about today's thorniest relationship problems, parenting and marriage-related issues as seen from the perspectives of mother and daughter. A month later, Rivers launched Joan Rivers Results, a line of skin care products, available on QVC. The response was overwhelming.

Rivers began her remarkable career entertaining in closet-like clubs and lounges (which often passed the hat in lieu of paying her a salary). In 1960, she graduated to Greenwich Village cabarets and coffeehouses, and later honed her comic skills as Chicago's renowned "Second City." Today she headlines the most prestigious concert venues across the country.

This August she is saying thank you to the clubs that gave her a start and performing 5 shows at the THE DUPLEX (61 Christopher Street, NYC - 212-255-5438). On August 7th, 8th,15th and 21st you can catch Joan Rivers, live, honing her craft in a small intimate atmosphere. Joan Rivers is challenging herself by using the DUPLEX (a small 70 seat cabaret theatre that celebrated it's 50th anniversary last October) to test her knew material. Each show is different, anything can and often does happen in this tight little theatre. Cover is $25 plus a 2-drink minimum. Proceeds will benefit GOD'S LOVE WE DELIVER and GUIDE DOGS FOR THE BLIND.
