WBAI's DAVID KENNEY TO REMEMBER SUSANNAH McCORKLE SUNDAY JUNE 17th


On Sunday, June 17th, from 9:00 pm until 11:00 pm, David Kenney's radio show EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN will feature the music of, and present excerpts from past interviews with the late Susannah McCorkle. Some of the songs from her career that will be played are "If I Only Had A Heart" from her CD "OVER THE RAINBOW - The Songs of E.Y. 'Yip' Harburg" from 1980, Irving Berlin's "Isn't It A Lovely Day" recorded live in Kenney's WBAI Studio, "I Want To Be A Sideman" (Dave Frishberg), the Gershwin's "I Got Rhythm" with Ira's dummy lyric serving as an introduction to the song, and a new recording of "I Can Dream, Can't I" from "HEARTS AND MINDS," Susannah's latest release on CONCORD JAZZ.

In the same show, Dave will play four renditions of "So Many Stars" (Sergio Mendes/Alan & Marilyn Bergman) with performances by: Eden Atwood, Billy Stritch, Carla Helmbrecht and a new recording by Laurie Krauz. He will also chat with Laurie about the recent release of her debut CD "CATCH ME IF YOU CAN" from JEROME RECORDS (http://www.jeromerecords.com/).

Dave will also play a set of songs celebrating Father's Day: "Daddy" a brand new recording by Kristin Chenoweth, Gladys Shelley's "I Wonder Who My Daddy Is" performed by Freddy Cole, Nina Simone sings "Papa, Can You Hear Me?" and requests from his listeners.
