Richard Malavet is actually
coming back full circle to JUDY'S CHELSEA at its beautiful new location,
after a brief hiatus from the cabaret stage singing with bands and
learning about "The Right to Love." Mr. Malavet made his cabaret debut
at the original JUDYS* in midtown. He was actually discovered singing
at the piano bar by Richard Hendrickson, one of the owners of JUDYS*,
who personally invited him to debut his act there. Other New York
City club appearances followed, including shows at DON'T TELL MAMA
and EIGHTY EIGHT'S. Richard is also a Fellow of the O'Neill Cabaret
Symposium, working with master teachers that included Karen Akers,
Margaret Whiting and Julie Wilson.
An actor as well as singer,
Richard Malavet is a Manhattan native. He was a member of the AMERICAN
LINE THEATRE COMPANY as both an actor and sound designer, and made
his New York theatrical debut with the famed PUBLIC THEATER in the
Latino Theater Festival. Other theater venues include THEATER FOR
THE NEW CITY, WESTBANK THEATER and THE NATIONAL BLACK THEATER.
