Jeanne MacDonald Returns To The FireBird Cafe
With Her Show and Debut CD, COMPANY

Jeanne MacDonald will bring her cabaret show "Company" to THE FIREBIRD CAFE (363 West 46th Street, NYC - 212-586-0244 - http://www.firebirdrestaurant.com/) for two weekends, on Fridays and Saturdays, May 18th & 19th, and May 25th & 26th at 9:00 pm. "Company" celebrates the release of Jeanne MacDonald's debut CD of the same name, which earned her a 2001 MAC nomination for Best Solo Female Recording.

Musical direction is by Rick Jensen, who arranged and produced the CD. A multiple MAC Award winner, he has produced a number of CDs including his own, "Spring Harvest." His popular piece "Amanda Sang," is featured on both Jeanne's CD and in the show. Other highlights include an ethereal rendition of "Lazy Afternoon," a seductive "Miss Celie's Blues" (Sister), a touching reading of "Tell Me On A Sunday," and the CD's title song, the bittersweet ballad "Company." Jensen and MacDonald have worked together since 1997. Adding to the musical mix is guitarist Steve Bargonetti, who has played for Lena Horne.

The recipient of a Bistro Award (1998), as well as a MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) Hanson Award (1998), Jeanne MacDonald has been consistently nominated by MAC (2001, 2000, 1999) in the category of Best Female Vocalist. Her smooth warm voice, noted for its clarity, has been compared to the vocal qualities of Judy Collins, Nancy LaMott, Barbara Cook and Jo Stafford. Says MacDonald of her cabaret show and CD "Company," "These are songs that I've lived with, and sometimes music can be one of the best forms of company."

MacDonald has previously performed three shows at The FireBird, as well as at New York venues including The Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, Eighty Eight's, and Town Hall for the Cabaret Convention. She has performed for the MAC/ASCAP Songwriters' Showcases, Ruby Rims' annual Teddy Care Benefits, and at Angela LaGreca's "Monday Night Madness." She performed with Audra MacDonald and Robert Cuccioli for the Manhattan Plaza Aids Project Benefit. Outside of New York City she has appeared at The Turning Stone Casino in Oneida, at Eighty Eight's Cafe Society in Florida, and at hotels including the Hotel Syracuse/Radisson and the Villa Roma Resort Hotel.

MacDonald will be taking her cabaret show Company to THE CABARET at Odette's (South River Road, New Hope, PA - 215-862-3000 - http://www.odettes.com/), on Friday & Saturday, June 1st & 2nd at 8:00 pm. On Sunday, September 2nd at 7:00 & 9:30 pm, she will bring the show to THE BRADSTAN (Route 17B, White Lake, NY - 845-583-4114). A native of Long Island, MacDonald began her career at The Bradstan Country Hotel in 1991.

Currently a resident of Bloomingburg, in upstate New York, MacDonald teaches music to third, i fourth and fifth grade students. A select chorus of 100 students sang backup when MacDonald sang David Friedman's "We Can Be Kind" in their spring concert on May 2nd. "I love sharing the music that they would never know, and seeing them respond to it. They are the audience of tomorrow," she laughs.
