"The
Kitchenettes" Return with DINE to San Francisco's Plush Room

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. August,
2001 - Need a recipe for a great cabaret show? Take three sassy and
beautiful women with fabulous voices and stage presence. Add tasty
arrangements, juicy patter, and a seasoned musical director. Sprinkle
generously with humor and zesty innuendo. Then, arrange on the perfect
platter, like San Francisco's gracious PLUSH ROOM at the York Hotel
(940 Sutter Street, San Francisco, CA - 415-885-2800 - http://www.plushroom.com/).
The group is called "The
Kitchenettes" with Mychelle Colleary, Lua Hadar & Linda Kosut. The
show is called "DINE: Where Food and Lust Burst into Song." At the
piano is Barry Lloyd, Musical Director. They will be appearing on
Sunday, August 12th at 7:30 pm, and Mondays, September 10th & 24th
at 8:00 pm.
The debut performance of
"The Kitchenettes" DINE show on April 10th of this year showcased
the extraordinary individual and collective talents of this trio of
vocal artists, already well known in the San Francisco cabaret community.
"The Kitchenettes" treat the audience to a full spectrum of emotions
and styles, from saucy and comedic trios to stylish and soulful duets
and solos.
About "The Kitchenettes"
Mychelle
Colleary: A classically trained singer, Mychelle Colleary is equally
at home performing in a variety of genres from folk-rock to jazz to
avant-garde. She has a bodacious voice, which is best heard live rather
than described. Her love for jazz and improvisation has brought her
to perform with such renowned artists as Claire Fisher, Carl Anderson,
Cornelius Bumpus and Bobby McFerrin. Besides the many Bay Area jazz,
rock, and cabaret venues, Mychelle has performed at historic jazz
clubs in New Orleans and venues in England, as well as the legendary
Caveau de la Hachette in Paris. Mychelle's innovative compositions
can be found on her first solo CD, Analgesic, which was released in
1999.
Lua
Hadar: Lua has been a growing presence on the SF cabaret scene since
her move here from her native New York City 10 years ago. Last year,
her solo cabaret show, "My Foolish Heart," introduced audiences to
the wide range of music and style this singer-actress can deliver.
She has appeared often at Martuni's and Piaf's Restaurant and Cabaret,
including Piaf's New Year's Eve show, "We're Still Here!" Known for
her international cabaret repertoire, she appeared for many weeks
at Union Street's Cafœ de Paris, following a featured concert last
summer in Breno, Italy. In March, Lua will be heard with Barry Lloyd
in an all-French cabaret program for the opening of the Palace of
Legion of Honor's new exhibit, Toulouse Lautrec & The Spirit of Montmartre:
Cabaret, Humor and the Avant-Garde, 1875-1905.
Linda
Kosut: Linda moved to the Bay Area nearly 15 years ago from her native
New York City where she performed at many of New York's cabaret venues.
A smoky contralto, Linda is a stylish, moving and entertaining performer
who has only recently begun to appear on the SF cabaret circuit. She
was a featured singer at the Jazz School's Summer 2000 Concert Series
at Cafœ La Note, and makes regular appearances at Martuni's and Piaf's,
where she recently presented her one-woman show "Mister Kicks." Linda
is a 1990 Fellow of the Cabaret Symposium of the Eugene O'Neill Theater
Center; cohost of Martuni's "Song of the Month Club," and co-producer/co-host
of "Thick Tuesdays," a monthly salon for cabaret performance in San
Francisco.
Barry Lloyd, Musical Director:
A veteran cabaret artist, Barry has been a leading musical figure
in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 25 years as accompanist
to such cabaret stars as Ruth Hastings, Sharon McNight, Nancy LaMott,
Michael Greer, Raquel Bitton, Charles Pierce, and many others. He
was also private accompanist to Miss Mary Martin during her residence
in San Francisco. Mr. Lloyd is a graduate of both the San Francisco
Conservatory of Music and the American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.).
Known primarily as a pianist/accompanist, Mr. Lloyd is also an accomplished
actor, singer, arranger and composer.
