"A Joyful Noise" Honors
Cantor Ellen L. Stettner May 14th


On Monday, May 14th, "A Joyful Noise" will be heard at the STEPHEN WISE FREE SYNAGOGUE (30 West 68th Street, NYC - 212-877-4050, ext. 23) in a unique musical tribute to Ellen L. Stettner in celebration of her 20th anniversary as Cantor at SWFS.

Marilyn Michaels, who has appeared in theater, television and cabaret, will host the program. Top performers include KT Sullivan, currently appearing in "American Rhapsody: Songs of the Gershwins" at THE TRIAD (158 West 72nd Street, NYC - 212-362-2590); Natalie Gamsu, who has appeared in THE ALGONQUIN OAK ROOM (59 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-840-6800) and at the RUSSIAN TEA ROOM; Andrew Lippa, creator of the Broadway musical," The Wild Party," and David Brunetti, composer/lyricist/musician, who has worked with numerous musical headliners. Ticket prices are $100 per person for General Admission and $500 for Patrons. Journal ads begin with $54 for a Booster and an array of several higher priced categories.

Cantor Stettner was the first and remains only cantor ever at the Stephen Wise Free Synagogue. Her musical leadership in prayer and liturgical music, along with her warmth and spiritual qualities have endeared her not only to the SWFS congregation but to many others throughout the country. She has introduced a broad range of music to tots, teenagers, and every other member of the congregation. She also serves as Vice President of the American Conference on Cantors and as a faculty member of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
