DANIEL ISENGART TO PERFORM IN JUNE 18th BENEFIT AT 45 BLEECKER THEATER

New York City - June 10, 2001 Æ In Support of Artists with HIV/AIDS, there will be a one-night only Art Opening & Concert benefit at 45 BLEECKER THEATER & GALLERY (45 Bleecker Street, NYC) on Monday, June 18th at 7:30 pm. The evening's event will feature the work of Niccolo Cataldi, Phillip Calkins, Nora Wallower and David Reyes with an opening reception followed by a concert with rising cabaret star, Daniel Isengart. Tickets can be purchased for $20 with proceeds being donated to Visual AIDS. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. Call Wayne Williams at 917-860-5904 for ticket reservations and information.

Daniel Isengart, a native German, has been performing concerts and cabaret shows around town since 1997, specializing in vintage cabaret from the French and German chanson repertoire. After raising eyebrows and dropping jaws in midtown's Cabaret scene, Isengart moved his act downtown to dazzle new crowds in fixtures such as the Starlight Lounge and at Bar d'O. Tony Lauria accompanies this emerging downtown star on the accordion.

Visual AIDS strives to increase public awareness of AIDS through the visual arts, creating programs of exhibitions, events and publications, and working in partnership with artists, galleries, museums and AIDS organizations. By mobilizing the visual arts communities, Visual AIDS raises money to provide direct services to artists living with HIV/AIDS.

These services include: representation in The Archive Project, the largest national slide archive of works by artists with HIV/AIDS, used by curators, galleries, museums and historians; free photo-documentation of art work; artists material grants; emergency grants; free access to lawyers for estate planning; opportunities to exhibit work; quarterly newsletters; advice and advocacy. Founded in 1988, Visual AIDS was one of the first national initiatives to record the impact of the AIDS pandemic on the artistic community. It brought together the arts and AIDS communities through its renowned national projects DAY WITHOUT ART, Night Without Light and The Ribbon Project, which have become icons of AIDS awareness.
