OF KURT WEILL CELEBRATION
OPENS FORD AMPHITHEATER SEASON MAY 26th

Jazz great
Roger Kellaway, vocalist Anne Kerry Ford, guitarist Robben Ford and
a 27-member big band celebrate Weill's centenary.
Capping the
17-month celebration of the 100th anniversary of Kurt Weill's birth,
the opening night of the Ford Amphitheater's 2001 season at 8:00 pm
Saturday, May 26th pays tribute to the German composer with an evening
of his vocal and instrumental music under the direction of Roger Kellaway.
Kellaway was commissioned by WDR Radio of Germany to create this evening,
which receives its United States premiere at The Ford.
The
Kurt Weill Celebration marks the Los Angeles concert debut of cabaret/Broadway
vocalist Anne Kerry Ford. Ford is a devotee of the music of Kurt Weill
and is noted among cabaret aficionados for her evenings devoted to
his songs at The Gardenia in Hollywood. Anne Kerry Ford also appeared
in the Broadway production of Weill's "The Threepenny Opera" starring
Sting. Lauded jazz and blues guitarist Robben Ford, a colleague and
collaborator of Kellaway's for more than 20 years and Anne's husband,
is a featured soloist on the celebration program as well.
Tickets to
the Kurt Weill Celebration are FREE but reservations are necessary.
Those purchasing tickets to other events on the Ford Amphitheater
2001 season receive preference. For more information and reservations,
