HOWARD FISHMAN QUARTET AT JOE'S PUB SUNDAY, JUNE 10 AT 8:30 pm

TOYIN SPELLMAN AND ANDREW ADAIR JOIN THE HOWARD FISHMAN QUARTET AT JOE'S PUB SUNDAY, JUNE 10 AT 8:30 pm

The Howard Fishman Quartet welcomes oboist Toyin Spellman and pianist Andrew Adair as special guest performers on Sunday, June 10th at JOE'S PUB (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - Tele-Charge: 212-239-6200 - Box Office: 212-539-8778 - http://www.joespub.com/). The evening's performance comes as part of the Quartet's ongoing exclusive engagement at the Pub. Ticket prices are $12 and can be purchased at the Public Theater box office or via Tele-Charge.

Toyin Spellman has been principal oboist of the Chicago Civic Orchestra in addition to performing with the New York Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony, Orchestra of St. Luke's and the Brooklyn Philharmonic. She is a founding member of the well-known Imani Winds, a contemporary woodwind quartet that has toured the world championing the works of composers of color. She has a BM from Oberlin College and an MM from the Manhattan School of Music.

Andrew Adair began his professional career in New Orleans before moving to New York four years ago, and has since become one of the finest young jazz pianists on the scene. He has performed with renowned alto saxophonist Donald Harrison (with whom he also recorded and toured with for three years), saxophonist Bobby Watson, trumpeter Terrell Stafford, and drummer Herlin Riley. He has shared sideman duties on stage along side such figures as Jimmy Cobb and Wynton Marsalis. In the fall of 2000, Adair toured with the faculty of the new jazz division at the Juilliard School.

Spellman and Adair are the first of several special guests who will sit in with the Quartet's complete permanent roster: Howard Fishman on guitar and vocals; Russell "Percy" Farhang on violin; Erik Jekabson on trumpet; and Jonathan Flaugher on bass.

These Joe's Pub performances serve as a musical laboratory for the Quartet, who are using the shows to develop and explore material for their as-yet-untitled third album. The evenings also include music from "We Are Destroyed," a work-in-progress musical meditation on the Donner Party being developed by the Quartet in conjunction with The Public Theater.

Tickets to events at JOE'S PUB (425 Lafayette Street, NYC - Tele-Charge: 212-239-6200 - Box Office: 212-539-8778 - http://www.joespub.com/), can be purchased at The Public Theater box office Tuesday-Saturday from 1:00 pm to 7:30 pm; Sunday and Monday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm or via Tele-Charge.
