īGROUCHO' RETURNS TO MANHATTAN AUGUST 20th AT THE HIDEAWAY
Award-winning
Frank Ferrante returns to New York as the legendary Groucho Marx in
the stage tribute "An Evening With Groucho" for one show only. The
revue debuts in the John Barrymore Room at THE HIDEAWAY CABARET AND
SUPPER CLUB (32 West 37th Street, NYC - 212-947-8940 - http://www.thehideawayny.com/)
on Monday, August 20th at 9:00 pm. A dinner/show package is available.
Ferrante's portrayal of
Groucho Marx wowed audiences in New York, London, Los Angeles and
recently on PBS. His off-Broadway portrayal in "Groucho: A Life in
Revue" was dubbed by Variety "a tour de force performance" and the
New York Times declared, "Artful ... Ferrante's timing is digital
sharp."
"An Evening With Groucho"
is a fast-moving romp featuring the best Groucho one-liners, anecdotes,
scores of ad-libs and classic Groucho songs such as "Hooray for Captain
Spalding" and "Lydia, the Tattooed Lady." Ferrante portrays the young
Groucho of stage and film and reacquaints us with the likes of brothers
Harpo, Chico, Zeppo and Gummo, Charlie Chaplin, W.C. Fields, Greta
Garbo, Marx foil Margaret Dumont and MGM's Louis B. Mayer. Jim Furmston
serves as pianist and musical director.
The show is $20 plus a
two drink minimum. The dinner and show package is $55. Dinner begins
at 7:30 pm. All major credit cards accepted.
