Courtenay
Day Brings Her Show "Take Me To The World" To London

Appearing at Lauderdale
House on Sunday, November 4th at 5:00 pm
With
a style reminiscent of big band singers such as June Christie, Anita
O'Day and Margaret Whiting, American cabaret performer Courtenay Day
will bring her cabaret show to London's LAUDERDALE HOUSE (Highgate
Hill, Waterlow Park, North London - 02 08 3488716) for one performance
only, on Sunday, November 4th. Tickets are £10.00 (£8.00 concessions).
Aptly titled "Take Me To The World," this show marks Courtenay's debut
in London. Accompanied by her musical director Christopher Marlowe,
Courtenay Day will perform at 5:00 pm. She is the first act of a double
bill also featuring popular West End performer Simon Green.
Courtenay Day comes directly
to London from her New York season at the prestigious ARCI'S PLACE
(450 Park Avenue South, NYC - 212-532-4370 - http://www.arcisplace.com/)
cabaret room in New York, where she debuted a new show called "When
October Goes." Her previous cabaret show, "Something Cool," earned
her much critical acclaim. Last year Day performed over twenty shows
between New York and Philadelphia. A seasoned performer who began
her career over seventeen years ago, she has presented a number of
cabaret shows in New York at venues including DON'T TELL MAMA, DANNY'S,
EIGHTY EIGHTS and JUDY'S. She inaugurated the cabaret room ODETTE'S
in New Hope, Pennsylvania, near her country home near the small town
of Schwenksville, where she runs a ballet school. A lifelong dancer
who trained at American Ballet Theater, Courtenay has taught ballet
for 25 years, and many of her students have gone on to be Broadway
dancers. "Take Me To The World" touches on themes of home, relationships,
and trying to peel away the layers that cover your experience of the
world.
With respected pianist/arranger
Christopher Marlowe, who created many arrangements for the late Nancy
LaMott, Day has selected songs for this show including standards,
musical theater fare, and songs from the movies. Highlights include
two Harold Arlen songs, "Any Place I Hang My Hat is Home," and the
lesser-known "Dissertation on a State of Bliss" as well as the Stephen
Sondheim duo "Good Thing Going"/"Not A Day Goes By."
