Joan Curto Returns to DAVENPORTS
in Week-long Engagement


CHICAGO (April 11, 2001) - Singer and Actress Joan Curto will return to DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830 - http://www.davenportspianobar.com/), May 2nd through May 5th in her new show "Unexpressed?". Performance times are Wednesday and Thursday at 8:00 pm, and Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm and 10:30 pm. This marks Joan's fourth Davenports engagement since July of 1999. The show is directed by New York award winning director, Ron Cohn and musical direction by Chuck Larkin, winner of the 2000 After Dark Award for cabaret performance.

This all new show will feature music by composers from The Great American Songbook, Rogers and Hart, Kurt Weill, and Jerry Eaton and Terry Shand as well as contemporary composers including, Amanda McBroom, John Bucchino and Carol Hall. Joan will make her New York debut with this show in the fall.

Joan is quickly establishing herself as a top cabaret performer in Chicago. Her last show at Davenports in July, 2000 was to sell out audiences. GAY CHICAGO'S Jeff Rosen described Joan as a "confident performer who possesses a strong voice and has no problem relaxing into a song and playing the moment." This past year, Joan was selected to attend the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center Cabaret Symposium in Waterford, Connecticut where she studied with master teachers Julie Wilson, Margaret Whiting and other cabaret greats.

In November 2000, Joan performed in the Humanities Festival, appearing in the "Songwriters Now!" Concert along with Amanda McBroom, Stephen Schwartz, Craig Carnelia, Babbie Green and other national composers as well as Chicago based performers. Audiences will remember her many featured performances in "Season of Concern" benefits throughout the Chicagoland area.
