MERCER
FOUNDATION PRESENTS
JUDI CONNELLI AT TOWN HALL JUNE 6

The Mabel Mercer Foundation,
is pleased to announce that it will be presenting Australian singing
sensation JUDI CONNELLI in a benefit concert for the Foundation at
the legendary landmark, TOWN HALL (123 West 43rd Street, NYC) on Wednesday,
June 6, 2001 at 8:00 pm.
Ms.
Connelli began her stage career in Brisbane, Australia, at the age
of nineteen. Since that time she has worked successfully in all facets
of show business, including theater, television, radio, and cabaret.
In 1992 and 1994, she received an MO Award (Australia's equivalent
of the Tony Award) for Best Female Theater Performer.
In 1995, she made a triumphant
New York debut by stopping the show cold with two songs at the Mabel
Mercer Cabaret Convention. In 1997, Judi returned to New York to appear
again at the Cabaret Convention, in shows at EIGHTY EIGHT'S and THE
ALGONQUIN OAK ROOM (59 West 44th Street, NYC - 212-840-6800) and in
two sold-out concerts at the WEILL RECITAL HALL (154 West 57th Street,
NYC). Her performances won her a coveted New York BACK STAGE Bistro
Award, a MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs) Award nomination,
and a DramaLogue Award for the Most Outstanding Act of 1997.
In 1998, Judi starred in
the concert version of FOLLIES at The Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.
In London she performed a series of solo performances at THE TALK
OF LONDON CABARET. These concerts were recorded and released on the
CD "Judi - Live in London." Judi has also starred as Norma Desmond
in the Sydney production of SUNSET BLVD. Last year, Judi's welcome
return to the New York Mabel Mercer Cabaret Convention followed great
Australian success, most recently as Momma Rose in GYPSY, in the Melbourne
equivalent of the New York Encore Series.
During her two year absence
from New York, she performed in concert with both the Melbourne and
Sydney Symphony Orchestras, was a guest in Opera Australias Millenium
2000 Gala Concert, toured Australia as one of "The 3 Divas," and released
an ARIA award-winning CD, recorded with Suzanne Johnston and the Tasmanian
Symphony Orchestra, entitled "Perfect Strangers." She returned to
Australia after her New York season, to perform Katisha in THE MIKADO
for Opera Queensland, and this year will sing Mrs. Lovett in SWEENEY
TODD for Opera Australia.
