Los Angeles, CA, August 29, 2001 Æ Direct from standing-room-only crowds at ARCI'S PLos AngelesCE (450 Park Avenue South, NYC - 212-532-4370 - http://www.arcisplace.com/) in Manhattan, Jim Caruso will be performing at THE GARDENIA (7066 Santa Monica Boulevard, West Hollywood, CA - 323-467-7444), delighting cabaret lovers and celebrity fans with his unique style of song and humor Friday and Saturday, September 28th & 29th at 9:00 pm. Cover charge is $20.00 plus a $10.00 drink minimum. Show time is 9:00 pm, dinner is served from 6:00 pm. This dynamic performer will be singing many hits from his recently released CD, "Caruso: Live and In Person," released by LML Music (http://www.lmlmusic.com/).

Los Angeles audiences are in for a rare treat as this Texas-born comic entertainer and favorite of the celebrity set sings some sentimental swing, jazz and classic favorites in his own special way. Highlights not to be missed are "How Deep is the Ocean," a special arrangement Caruso received as a gift from the late, great Kay Thompson; and "The Boy From Fire Island," a hilariously funny spoof of "The Girl From Ipanema" with special lyrics by Fred Ebb.

Caruso grabs fans from the moment he steps on stage with his wicked wit, impeccable timing, and soaring baritone. His effortless banter features childhood stories of singing with his mother in an act called "Son of a Bitch" to his stint as talent coordinator for the unlikely talk show, "Jim J and Tammy Faye."

A favorite in the celebrity set, Linda Lavin comments "I met Jim Caruso when we sang at the White House together, and I've been laughing ever since ... and I mean that in the nicest way!" Lavin, along with Barry Manilow, Kathy Najimy, Suzanne Sena and Ruta Lee are among the pals expected to be at CarusoÍs opening night performance.

Prior to his solo career, Caruso was the founding member of the nationally acclaimed, award-winning jazz and vocal trio, WISEGUYS. Their performances included shows from the Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room to Carnegie Hall. Caruso also contributes regularly to InStyle Magazine and writes a regular celebrity feature in http://www.theatermania.com/ called "Jim Caruso is PRYING!" Among his many awards, Caruso recently garnered the 2001 MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets & Clubs) Award for Excellence in Musical Comedy and the BACK STAGE Magazine Bistro Award.
