TOM
ANDERSEN TOASTS OL' MILWAUKEE

There's
a new cabaret series brewing in Milwaukee, and Tom Andersen is hoping
it'll be the toast of the town. Amanda McBroom just kicked off Stepping
Out Productions' "1st Annual Cabaret Artists Series" on June 8th &
9th to rave reviews, and Andersen's next, playing June 22nd & 23rd
at the STACKNER CABARET (108 East Wells Street, Milwaukee, WI - 414-224-9490
- http://www.milwaukeerep.com/).
Andersen, who was born
in Chicago and grew up in Arlington Heights, IL, says he's excited
to play Milwaukee and remembers it from his boyhood days. The 5-time
MAC Award winner says, "My grandpa had some cabins in Burlington,
WI, and we'd vacation there. There was a big lake, so we'd go swimming
and fishing for catfish, bluegills and perch. We'd also go into Milwaukee
on day trips. I remember visiting the breweries there, and the city
has a fantastic museum."
Andersen's latest trip
to Milwaukee comes on the heels of his recent June 1st & 2nd concerts
at the Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in Arlington Heights. As
the hometown boy, he was welcomed with open arms by the local press,
and interviewed and featured in the Chicago Tribune, the Arlington
Heights Post, the Daily Herald, the Windy City Times and Northshore
Magazine. Longtime and long-lost family and friends showed up for
the shows, and the tenor spoke at a local high school about the ups
and downs of a career in showbiz. He was also interviewed and filmed
in performance for a documentary about cabaret singers.
After returning from Milwaukee,
Andersen says he plans to return to the studio to demo some new songs.
Thanks to his Web site (http://www.tomandersen.com/),
he says he has gotten requests for his MAC Award-winning ballad, "Yard
Sale," from Australia, England and all over America. And his Bistro
Award-winning song, "Play Your Song for Me Blues," was recently featured
in Meg Mackay's act in San Francisco and in the Uptown Express concerts
at Don't Tell Mama in New York.
Andersen's shows in Milwaukee
are Friday, June 22nd, at 8:00 pm and Saturday, June 23rd, at 6:00
and 9:00 pm. He'll be accompanied by Ian Herman, the 1999 Bistro Award-winning
musical director. Tickets are $30. Produced by Tom Stajmiger and Donna
Singleton, the series will next feature Ann Hampton Callaway (August
17th & 18th), the Tony-nominated singer from "Swing" and a multi-MAC
Award winner, and Christiane Noll (August 24th & 25th), the Broadway
star from "Jekyll & Hyde."
