"THE
ROCK ALBERS SHOW: AN EVENING OF COMEDY AND SONGS" RETURNS

ROCK ROCKS AT DON'T
TELL MAMA IN OCTOBER
Rock
Albers, the eccentric comedian, known for performing in rabbit ears,
is giving four encore performances of "The Rock Albers Show: An Evening
of Comedy and Songs" at DON'T TELL MAMA (343 West 46th Street, NYC
- 212-757-0788 - http://www.donttellmama.com/)
on Saturdays, October 6th and 27th at 5:30 pm and Tuesdays, October
16th and 23rd at 7:00 pm.
Hailed by Chip Deffaa of
the NEW YORK POST as "never afraid to tackle the tough issues," Albers
rants about a variety of subjects that other stand-up comics don't
talk about, including state birds, national flags, "I Love Lucy,"
English chocolate and "The Berenstain Bears." He also sings parody
songs about American icons such as Martha Stewart, Janet Reno and
Donald Trump.
Albers' rabbit ears provide
an amusing contrast to the Brooks Brother suit he wears during his
act. "My rabbit ears are magical," he says. "When people see me in
bunny ears, it tells them that this guy is outrageous and invites
them to enter my bizarre world."
After performances Albers,
in his ears and bunny tail, goes to Joe Allen's Restaurant, which
is known for attracting Broadway actors after their shows. "I get
more attention than any star," boasts Albers. "I can't tell you how
many women have given me their cards. They love my tail."
Albers has performed in
all of the major New York comedy clubs including CAROLINES, STAND-UP
NEW YORK, GOTHAM, COMIC STRIP, COMEDY CELLAR and THE BOSTON COMEDY
CLUB. He was recently a guest on "The Next Big Thing," the Sunday
morning show on WNYC-FM, the National Public Radio station in New
York, and he has also been seen on New York 1 News as well as MTV.
The show's musical director
is Dick Gallagher, who composed the music for the hit Off-Broadway
show, "When Pigs Fly," which played in New York for two years. As
a musical director, Gallagher has worked with singers including Patti
LuPone and has received a record seven Manhattan Association of Cabaret
Awards for musical direction.
The show is directed by
award winning director and writer Stephen Rosenfield who has directed
at The Roundabout Theatre, The Ensemble Studio Theatre, The Actor's
Studio and is the Director of the American Comedy Institute and the
Stand-up Comedy Experience.
There is no cover for the
show, and there is a 2-drink minimum. Reservations are highly recommended
- the shows usually sell out days before the performance.
