NEW YORK, NY: MARCH 3, 2001 Æ Performing together for the first time ever, Broadway and cabaret stars Karen Mason and Craig Carnelia close this year's wildly successful CABARET UPTOWN series on Saturday, March 17 at 8:15 pm and 10:30 pm. This season, the 92nd Street Y's intimate Buttenweiser Hall has hosted some of the city's greatest cabaret artists in a new series produced by the Y's Eileen Solomon and ASCAP's Michael Kerker. This series is made possible by a generous gift from Edythe Kenner. Tickets: $35.00.

Broadway star and MAC Award-wining singer Karen Mason has been called "a dream maker, heartbreaker" by The New York Times and a "glamorous Broadway powerhouse" by Time Out New York. The Village Voice says that "Mason has a voice that lifts the room to some new astral plane." She performs a mix of standards such as "How Long Has This Been Going On" and "Up on the Roof" as well as a new song by her husband Paul Rolnick and Carnelia's "Flight." Mason is accompanied by pianist Christopher Denny and is directed by Barry Kleinbort. The prolific, Tony-nominated songwriter, pianist and singer Craig Carnelia showcases many of his own hits as well as selections from two of his upcoming musicals: the Broadway musical The Sweet Smell of Success with lyrics by Carnelia and music by Marvin Hamlisch and Actor, Lawyer, Indian Chief, destined for Off-Broadway next year.
