CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE #050509 - Monday, May 30, 2005
Since 1990 Your First, Best, and Only Complete Source of Cabaret News

CELEBRATING OUR 15th YEAR COVERING CABARET ALL OVER THE WORLD!
JOIN US ON JULY 6TH AT THE ENCORE, NYC, TO CELEBRATE!

If it's anything to do with cabaret, you'll probably read it here first!

This is a MONDAY NEWS Issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE and also includes information on all the banner ads running on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website plus listings for around the world, including shows at over 100 venues and covering over 300 performances (with a number offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE). The MID-WEEK issue, normally sent on Thursdays, will include more news, breaking stories and notes, cabaret tips, review summaries, plus listings of shows offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.

SLIGHT FORMAT CHANGE CONTINUES
This issue continues our new format, sort of, for CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. In an effort to avoid repetition from week to week, items in the CABARET NEWS section will appear in just one issue - and then will be moved to the NEWS BRIEFS sections for each geographical/subject area on the website. This does not apply to the shows running banners on the website, which will continue to be listed each week in the MONDAY issue, or those offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE, which will continue to be listed each week in the MIDWEEK issue. Also, shows that feature guest performers that change from show to show (variety shows, interview shows, workshops, web/radio/TV shows, etc.) will also appear, providing updated guest information. These items must be received 2 days before issue date to be included.

ATTENTION AOL USERS: Over 400 newsletters sent out to AOL subscribers have been bouncing back each issue - with no resolution coming from AOL in spite of promises. All copies of past issues are archived on the website.

MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY TODAY IN USA
Today, May 30th, is MEMORIAL DAY here in the USA, so some venues might be operating on a revised, holiday schedule. Be sure to confirm the hours of operation of any venues you may be planning to visit tonight. In past years I have sent out the issues for this day on Tuesdays, but I took the weekend off from cabaret to give my knee a rest and instead worked on the website and goet a head start on this issue. I have another night off tonight - three in a row!

HAVING TROUBLE USING PAYPAL?
Yes, it can be confusing. If you have a problem, send me an e-mail with the amount you wish to send and I will send you a PayPal "invoice" which everyone says makes the procedure easy. For new PayPal users, there is a full set of instructions included with the "invoice."

MORE ABOUT THE CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE BIRTHDAY PARTY TO BE HELD ON JULY 6th
Now for more news on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE birthday and membership drive on July 6th at THE ENCORE (266 West 47th Street, NYC - 212-221-3960 - http://www.theencorenyc.com/ ). The event is being held to celebrate the 15th birthday of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE - coinciding with my 66th birthday.

The pre-show party, open to all, no reservations necessary, in the piano bar, starts at 6:00 pm. If you are a 2005-2006 member of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE admission is FREE - or you can pay $20 cash at the door and receive a SILVER membership card on the spot (after giving us your e-mail address, website address and snail-mail address for our records). To save yourself time, get your 2005-2006 membership now. Happy Hour prices will be in effect at the cash bar, and snacks, prizes and guest performers will be featured as well. Our featured guests will be Tim Reilly and Miss Dynell, America's ugliest white woman. Tim was, for many years, the assistant of the late Wayland Flowers.

The cabaret show will take place at 7:30 pm in THE ENCORE showroom downstairs, and will feature just a few of the many performers I have grown to enjoy over the past 15 years. Here are some of the performers who are scheduled to appear: ROCK ALBERS, BABY JANE DEXTER, JEANNE MACDONALD, SUE MATSUKI, JULIE REYBURN, MARCUS SIMEONE, MICHAEL VACCARO, LENNIE WATTS, NANCY WITTER plus several surprise guests. The amazing Steven Ray Watkins will be musical director for the evening, which should wrap-up around 9:30 pm. (As with all live entertainment events, performers are subject to change.)

You will need to make your reservations for the 7:30 pm show via the website - don't call the club. Seating is limited to 70. There already is a special page on the website with details on the benefit, and on June 1st I will be adding a link where you can order your reservations - please don't place your order before that date. 2005-2006 members who have joined before May 30th will receive a special e-mailing offering show tickets today - before they will be offered on the website. You can purchase your tickets in advance via PayPal when you make your reservation, or send a check - which must be received by June 24th or your reservation may be cancelled.
