If it's anything to do with cabaret, you'll probably read it here first!

This is a MONDAY NEWS Issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE and also includes information on all the banner ads running on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website plus listings for around the world, including shows at over 100 venues and covering over 300 performances (with a number offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE). The MID-WEEK issue, normally sent on Thursdays, will include more news, breaking stories and notes, cabaret tips, review summaries, plus listings of shows offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.

ATTENTION AOL USERS: Over 400 newsletters sent out to AOL subscribers have been bouncing back each issue - with no resolution coming from AOL in spite of promises. All copies of past issues are archived on the website.

EVEN THE BEST LAID PLANS GO ASTRAY!
I am learning new lessons every day! Last Friday, the 20th, I had a full schedule planned. I had to go to Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan to return some AMTRAK tickets that were nearing a year old - after a year you can't return them. Then I planned a much needed haircut, have a late lunch, pick up my mail and see a show at THE ENCORE at 7:00 pm. I was then going to head downtown to HELEN'S to catch Baby Jane Dexter's show at 9:30 pm, then cross and uptown to catch the Lovely show at CATARINA'S at 11:00 pm. I left the house at 2:00 pm, well rested and feeling great. There was a 40 minute wait in line at AMTRAK - not unusual for a Friday afternoon. The haircut went well - after all, they don't have much to work with. McDonald's got my order wrong - not unusual. I got the mail, and made it to THE ENCORE around 6:00 pm, just in time for a happy hour libation before the show.

But now I wasn't feeling so great. I noted that my knee seemed to be warmer than usual, seemed to be throbbing somehow, and when I touched it, I discovered it had swollen quite a bit. Just when things were going so well! Thankfully my pal Daniel had joined me by that time, and could provide some assistance. I just had time to tell the bartender to send my apologies to the performer scheduled for 7:00 pm, made it to the street and scooted home - in bed by 8:00 pm. After an ice pack and a good night's sleep, all is back to normal. Lesson learned!

SLIGHT FORMAT CHANGE CONTINUES
This issue continues a new format, sort of, for CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. In an effort to avoid repetition from week to week, items in the CABARET NEWS section will appear in just one issue - and then will be moved to the NEWS BRIEFS sections for each geographical/subject area on the website. This does not apply to the shows running banners on the website, which will continue to be listed each week in the MONDAY issue, or those offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE, which will continue to be listed each week in the MIDWEEK issue. Also, shows that feature guest performers (variety shows, interview shows, workshops, web/radio/TV shows, etc.) will also appear, providing updated guest information. These items must be received 2 days before issue date to be included. Items will also be marked "SEE WEBSITE FOR MORE" if a more detailed article appears in the CABARET NEWS page on the website.
