THE HOUSING DILEMA ENDS
Things move quickly in life - on Tuesday I received an e-mail from
a subscriber and charter member of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE. Apparently
someone renting a room in his apartment in Queens was suddenly moving
out and he described the space he would have available in mid-April.
Close to just about everything - near one of the largest shopping
malls in the whole city and just two blocks from the subway (no longer
any need to take a bus to the subway) it was almost too good to be
true. I went to see the space on Wednesday night (the 6th) and by
Thursday night we had a deal (this is why I could not make this announcement
in the MIDWEEK issue on the morning of the 7th). Cost of the new space
will be just about the same as before. The current resident will be
moving out on the weekend of the 16th and I plan to make my relocation
on the weekend of the 23rd. More details in the MIDWEEK issue on Thursday.

CABARET HOTLINE SPRING BENEFIT/MEMBERSHIP DRIVE UPDATE
Unless you are a new subscriber, I am sure that you are aware by now
of the anticipated expenses coming up for me in the next few weeks.
Medicare will not cover all the expenses of my recent knee operation
(there are deductibles, co-pays, non-covered procedures, travel expenses,
etc., to worry about). Plus, with my roommate moving out unexpectedly
on the 31st of March, I have had to find a new living space, which
will mean moving expenses, advance rent & security deposit and other
possible unexpected expenses.
So I am holding a SPRING BENEFIT / MEMBERSHIP DRIVE. There is
a link on the BENEFIT / MEMBERSHIP DRIVE page on my website. This
is a benefit that you don't need to make a reservation for, don't
need to brave the elements, or hire a baby sitter or pay a huge
fee to park your car in order to attend. There is no 2-drink minimum,
and folks anywhere in the world can take part. Just go to my website
and click on the SPRING BENEFIT DRIVE link at the top of the right
column. You can donate any amount - $10, $50, $100, whatever you
can afford. I will be posting a running total of receipts and all
donors will be listed (unless they decline) on a special 'ANGELS'
page on the website. So far over $1,000 has been received towards
our $2,500 estimated goal (new apartment requires rent plus security
deposit).
If you wish instead to pre-renew your membership for the 2005-2006
membership year (which starts on July 6, 2005) there is also a link

memberships will not start until May 5th. You financial support

Lampkin Music Group presents a special concert performance of "Over
The Rainbow - The Music Of Harold Arlen," to benefit BALIWICK THEATRE

May 9th at 7:00 pm. The concert will feature Arlen favorites performed
by Arlen's son, Sam, and his wife, Joan, as well as other nationally
acclaimed artists. Other artists performing in "Over The Rainbow -
The Music of Harold Arlen," include Martha Lorin, a critically acclaimed
New York-based Jazz singer; Leon Joyce and Larry Gray, percussion
and bassist with the Ramsey Lewis Trio; Susan May, who has been featured
on The Oprah Winfrey Show; Brannen Daugherty, who starred in the smash
musical Parade; Alanda Coon, Jacob Hoffman, Ginger Tam, and Joanie
Pallatto. The concert will also feature special guest singer Mary
Beidler Gearen, who starred in the hit show Pope Joan at Bailiwick
Repertory Theatre. Musical Director is Bobby Schiff. Producer is Ralph

THE MUSIC OF BROADWAY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR THE CENTER
The stars will be out celebrating the music of Broadway and Broadway-bound

) on Monday, April 25th at 7:00 pm. Musical director and Emmy-nominated
writer Seth Rudetsky returns as the host of the Music of Broadway,

DC CABARET NETWORK ANNUAL MEETING SET FOR MAY 22nd
DCCN (DC Cabaret Network) will be holding their Annual Member Party
on Sunday , May 22nd at 4:00 pm at THE WAREHOUSE THEATRE (1021 7th
Street NW, Washington, DC). There will be door prizes, delicious food,
music, open mic, champagne toast, cash bar and members are invited
to bring among a guest. If you would like to become a member of DCCN,

Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, the co-creators of the Tony Award-winning

the return engagement of legendary cabaret and concert artist Barbara
Cook, in a very special three-week engagement. With "Tribute," Ms.
Cook will open her musical treasure chest to offer a program of gems
she has sung throughout her illustrious 50 year career, as well as
a few newly discovered jewels. Ms. Cook will be accompanied on piano
by her musical director Michael Kosarin and Peter Donovan on bass.
Performances begin April 12th and will continue through April 30th.
