CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE #040601 - Tuesday, June 1, 2004
Since 1990 Your First, Best, and Only Complete Source of Cabaret News

If it's anything to do with cabaret, you'll probably read it here first!

This is a MONDAY Issue of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE (going out on Tuesday because of the Memorial Day Holiday) which includes cabaret listings for around the world, and also includes information on all the banner ads running on the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website. The MID-WEEK issue, normally sent on Thursdays, will include more news, breaking stories and notes, plus listings of shows offering discounts to members of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.

SPECIAL TO 2003-2004 MEMBERS: BECAUSE OF THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND, WE WILL STILL ACCEPT DISCOUNTED MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS THROUGH FRIDAY, JUNE 4TH.

Once again we have a super-large issue - I am really amazed at the variety and number of cabaret events around the world in June. And I am also amazed and gratified by the over-100 folks who renewed or joined as new members of CABARET HOTLINE over the past few weeks. Wouldn't it be fantastic if all 451 current members renew in the next few weeks? Do we dare set a goal of 500 for this membership year?

I have had a busy weekend - collecting items for this issue (and even working ahead a little on the next issue which goes out on Thursday), plus adding many new items to the BREAKING NEWS page on the website. I have also been adding all the new members to the MEMBER LINKS pages as they come in. In the next few weeks we will be building the CD SALES page - where members can display their CDs and then on July 6th we will switch over all the listings to reflect the start of the new membership year.

And speaking of July 6th, that's my 65th Birthday - marking my chance to get that 1/2 price senior discount on the subway & bus. Plus, my Medicare Card will "kick in." Stay tuned - I hope to mark the event in a special way. I just haven't had the time I need to get all my plans organized.

Now on with the news:

I'M ALWAYS LOOKING FOR MORE NEWS

I get plenty of show listings sent me - far more than I can possibly use - it is really difficult trying to choose which ones to run, which ones to set aside. Sometimes the item itself makes this choice - incomplete information or just a scan of a flier, neither of which is useful to me. I would love to have more items from outside NYC, especially NEWS items - new venues opening, benefits, CD Releases, celebrations, new pianos, etc. Add a website link if available. I have news ready to print about two new cabaret venues - already in operation - but one contains no reservation phone number or cover information, and the other did not include the exact street address.

IT'S TIME TO GO

I started this issue at 6:00 am today - and now it is nearly noon and once again I have reached my self-imposed size limit (9,500-10,000 words). So this issue is on its way to you. If I missed your item, please send it again, but make sure that all the information is complete. Each week I have to toss out items where the venue address, reservation phone number, cover charge/minimum, and sometimes even the last name of the performer, are missing! I wish I had the time to check everything on your website or send an e-mail requesting additional information, but with two issues going out a week, a website to keep updated, cabaret events to attend, and more, I simply can't manage it.

SPECIAL TO 2003-2004 MEMBERS: BECAUSE OF THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND, WE WILL STILL ACCEPT DISCOUNTED MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS THROUGH FRIDAY, JUNE 4TH.

If you have not yet joined as a member, and if you find these messages and the information and news on the website of value, then I hope you will consider becoming a supporting member of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE today. And that is just about the way it was.
