HERE & THERE
Looks like March is coming in like a lion - another winter storm is supposed to pass through this afternoon. Actually it was supposed to be here a few hours ago. The prediction last night was for 14 inches or so, but now the forecast is for about 4 inches - hardly enough to make me change my plans to head into town after a 3-day rest for some cabaret.

Staying home has its benefits, since I have had some time to work on some web housecleaning projects, including redoing some 70 pages or so. Little stuff that you may never notice, but by making the changes now my job down the line will be easier.

I have a lot of news for you today, so without further ado, here goes.

NOW FOR SOME MORE NEWS ABOUT CABARET
In an effort to cut down on "repeated" events, except for announcements of programs offered by cabaret membership organizations, and shows where guests change weekly, cabaret news items will usually appear just once in the newsletter and then added to the CABARET NEWS page of the appropriate location on the website. The CABARET NEWS pages are updated regularly, and cover all areas of the world.

MORE NEWS ABOUT CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE

- CABARET NEWS ON THE WEBSITE
- Information about other shows around the country and around the world can be found on the CABARET NEWS page of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website (http://www.cabarethotlineonline.com/ ). How do you get an item posted in the CABARET NEWS section of the CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE website? Just e-mail me a press release of at least four paragraphs, giving the complete information on your show, CD release or other cabaret related event. Include photos in jpg or gif format if available. By the way, I try to get information about shows offering CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE discounts up on the website first. I am also especially interested in releases on shows outside the NYC area.

Please send me complete information - and do not merely e-mail me a copy of your flier or a reference to a website. With two newsletters going out a week, I don't have enough time to look these things up, and often have to simply toss out incomplete items. By the way, I usually trim quotes from reviews from the press releases I receive before using the item on my website or in the newsletter, so don't count them when putting together the four or more paragraphs.

SAVE THE DATE - JULY 6, 2005 - CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE SWEET 16 PARTY
By now you must have noticed the little "teaser" at the top of these newsletters and at the bottom of our e-mails, about our SWEET SIXTEEN party on July 6, 2006 celebrating the 16th birthday of CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE (and my 67th birthday). I will be announcing a venue soon, and have started to plan the event itself. The theme will be celebrating the joys of youth, but featuring performers of all ages, many chosen form my top picks of 2005.

We will also be presenting another JEFF MATSON AWARD at the event (possibly more than one). The JEFF MATSON award is presented to a person or persons showing outstanding excellence, talent and creativity in cabaret in the field of performance, musical direction, writing, songwriting, directing and/or graphic design. Cabaret lost one of its most creative talents when Jeff Matson passed away suddenly on April 2nd, 2005. Jeff was a songwriter, a writer, a director, a producer and a graphic designer, in addition to a strong supporter and friend of performers. Add to the list reviewer, because for far too short a time he served as a reviewer for CABARET HOTLINE ONLINE.
