BACA (Boston Association of Cabaret Artists) has announced that their MARCH IS CABARET MONTH CELEBRATION will be held this year at the internationally acclaimed RYLES JAZZ CLUB (212 Hampshire Street, Cambridge, MA) on Fridays & Saturdays, March 19th & 20th and 26th & 27th at 7:00 pm. New England area performers will be featured each night in 1/2 hour sets. Performers appearing on Friday, March 26th include Andrew Celentano, Sara Curry, Eric Larivee and Rich White with Jim Rice on piano and hosted by Dane Vannatter. There is a $20 cover.

CCP (Chicago Cabaret Professionals) will present their Spring Series "100 Years of Broadway" every Sunday in March, at DAVENPORT'S (1383 North Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, IL - 773-278-1830). Over 30 talented singers will perform America's favorite Broadway hits from over the last 100 years. Each night will feature 20 years of Broadway's memorable melodies starting at 1910 and going all the way to the hits of today. There is a $15 cover plus 2-drink minimum for each show. March 28th - 1980 to today "Be Our Guest" featuring songs from the musicals Beauty and The Beast, Into The Woods, La Cage Aux Folles, Les Miserables, Phantom of The Opera and Wicked with Anne Burnell, Paul Motondo, Carolyn Wehner and Mark Burnell, musical director and Tommy Hensel, director. PNW (Pacific Northwest Cabaret Association) continues their local MARCH IS CABARET MONTH events on Sunday, March 28th at at 7:00 pm at JULIA'S ON BROADWAY (300 Broadway Eest, Seattle, WA). Performers from the organization will be performing 4 songs each. Performers for March 28th include Cheryl Serio, Victor Janusz and Palm Springs' Jerome Elliott and the show is hosted by Arnaldo! drag chanteuse with Daryl Spadacinni on piano. The New York Sheet Music Society continues it's monthly programs on Saturday, April 10th at LOCAL 802 MUSICIA13NS' HALL (322 West 48th Street, NYC). There is a Flea Market starting at 12:30 pm (a great place to find music, tapes, CD's etc. at bargain prices} followed by a program from 1:45 to 3:30 pm. The meeting will feature Merrill Grant and her band in "My Shirley Years" - about her fascination with Shirley Temple, along with the leading ladies in her films - Dorothy Dell, Rochelle Hudson, Alice Faye and others. The meeting is free to members, $10 for non-members.

NYC: 25th ANNUAL BISTRO AWARDS GALA AT GOTHAM
FEATURED CABARET FESTIVAL EVENT
The 25th Annual Bistro Awards Gala will take place on Tuesday, April 13th at GOTHAM COMEDY CLUB (208 West 23rd Street, NYC - 212-367-9000 - ) at 6:30 pm. More than 20 of cabaret's brightest stars will be honored. Legendary singer-dancer-actress Mitzi Gaynor, a longtime headliner in Las Vegas and the nightclub circuit will be honored with the Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award. Elaine Stritch will be recognized in the category of Extraordinary Cabaret Artist, noting her recent conquests of the cabaret stage. The evening, under the direction of Eric Michael Gillett, will feature performances from most of the Bistro-winning artists and shows and will feature guest presenters singer Klea Blackhurst, comic Jim David, and actress-comedienne Marilyn Sokol. Ticket prices are $45 general admission, $75 for premium seating, which includes a pre-show Champagne reception and preferred seating (two-drink minimum). Board of Directors Awards are given to "people, organizations or publications that have shown extraordinary support to the cabaret community."
