Chicago Cabaret Convention - Andrea Marcovicci
"So in Love - The Love Songs of Cole Porter,"

It's time for the 2nd Annual Chicago Cabaret Convention, and while the opening gala was held at THE EMPIRE ROOM of the Palmer House Hilton (17 East Monroe Street, Chicago, IL) this evening, I chose to go an see Andrea Marcovicci at the PARK WEST, and I am glad I made that decision.

Ms. Marcovicci performed an evening of love songs from the Cole Porter song book that included well known songs like "Let's Misbehave," a jazzy arrangement of "Anything Goes," and a perfectly performed "Let's Not Talk About Love" along with some lesser known gems like "Riding High" and the very funny "The Physician."

Once again, Ms. Marcovicci proved why she is the best of the best in cabaret. Her performance of every song was stunning. She got to the soul of every word of the lyrics, while making the 750-seat Park West feel like her living room. Her patter was informative, if a bit long winded (especially in the first act), but she certainly proved that she did her homework, and I am sure that no one left without being a "mini-expert" on Cole Porter.

If tonight was any indication, this should be another successful Cabaret Convention here in the Windy City. Stay turned for updates for the rest of the convention!

The PARK WEST is located at 322 West Armitage Avenue, Chicago, IL - 312-440-9191 - http://www.parkwestchicago.com/.
