Mark Winkler is a platinum award winning singer/lyricist who has had over 150 of his songs recorded and/or sung by such artists as Liza Minnelli, Karen Mason, Lea Delaria, Lea Solanga and Dianne Reeves.
He has released 9 CDs in the US. The lastest being, ''Mark Winkler sings Bobby Troup" which is a loving tribute to the hip California composer of "Route 66", and on Varese Sarabande, a compilation of 20 years of his songs entitled "Garden of Earthly Delights: The Best of Mark Winkler and Friends". His CDs have been released on Polydor in Japan and Bellaphon in Germany.
He is the co-writer of the hit Off-Brodway Musical Review "Naked Boys Singing!" entering it's 10th year and just released as a movie on DVD. He is the creator and co-writer of "Too Old for the Chorus" which has played successful engagements in Los Angeles, Seattle and San Diego,. He has won both LA. Weekly and Backstage West Awards for best score for "Naked Boys Singing!".
His jazz musical "Play it Cool" which played in Los Angeles In 2007 got "Critics Choice" in the LA Times and has been nominated for Ovation, LADCC, LA Weekly and Glaad Awards. It has just been chosen to be part of the prestigious New York Musical Theatre Festival in September of 2008.
He is the co-writer of both the songs and book of the Hit Musical Revue "Bark!" which has played in Los Angeles, Memphis, Chicago, Key West and will be playing in New York in the fall.
His new CD will be released later this year. It features such musicians as Anthony Wilson, Bob Sheppard, Jamieson Trotter and Manhattan Transfer vocalist Cheryl Bentyne who will duet with Mark on an original Winkler composition...
